I am a school teacher working on a service learning project to resotre and protect the Greenville Settlement (Longtown). It includes the Union Literary Institute and the James and Sophia Clemens farmstead. The students and other communtiy groups are working on restoring the orignial builidings, marking unmarked U.S.C.T. graves with gov. grave markers, looking for artifacts, digital pictures, genealogy information, possible funding sources and any other general help/information that is available from sources. I currently live about 3 miles from the farmstead and about 4 miles from the Institute. There are about 20 people that the school is joining in this restoration endeavor. We would like to create pioneer village along with a museum on the restored site. The Union Literary Preservation Society has a new website up the address is www.ulips.org - it has some nice pictures of the two locations.
