Re: Free Tyrees (Virginia)
In Response To: Free Tyrees (Virginia) ()
I do not know a lot about them, yet I keep finding names. I don't know the connections, and hope to find this information. My gggg grandfather was Fountain Tyre *Tyree, born free in 1833. After 1850, he disappears, he may have died. I believe that his family included the following names, Frances (Fanny) Tyree (1785), James Tyre (1812), Eliza, Mary, Archibald, Albert, Quintus/Quinten, Robert, Eliza, Whitfield, Wesley, and John but I do not know how they are connected. My grandfather Fountain had two children, my ggg grandmother Elizabeth "Lizzie' Tyree-Walden (1852) and Delila "Lila" Tyree-Jackson (1853).

I really don't have anything that would help you connect any TYREE names just more to add to the group. I have a Fount TYREE, son of Edward & Northana TYREE. Edward & Northana both born in Virginia. These TYREEs are from the Madison County, Ohio and Fayette County, Ohio area. Fount TYREE has a sister Margaret Taylor "Maggie" TYREE, who married Wesley George GOINGS, a descendant of the Rumley Settlment, Shelby County, Ohio GOINGS family. BTW WALDEN is also a family found in the Rumley Settlement as well as JACKSON. I also have "another" group of TYREEs. At least I have not been able to connect them. These TYREEs are connected with the Graysville Settlement in Jefferson County, Indiana.
As far as the name Fountain. I have a Fountain LYLES married to Nancy GOING. They are living in a Settlement that existed in Jennings County, Indiana (covering several townships) near the village of Benville, Jennings County, Indiana. Jennings in the next county up from Jefferson County, Indiana. Fountain may have some connection with the LYLES Station Settlement in Gibson County, Indiana.
