Free Persons of Color -Granville County, 1771 Petition

I posted this online a few years ago, it may help:
Free Persons of Color -Granville County, 1771 Petition

The following is a list of people who signed a Petition in 1771 to
repeal an act passed by the North Carolina Assembly making all free Negroes and Mulatto women and all wives of free Negroes and Mulattoes declared Tythables. These people were more than likely Free Colored Persons, or married to a free colored person. This list might be helpful to some who are trying to locate the whereabouts of their ancestors in 1771. By the way, the Petition was rejected by the Assembly.
