I am looking for any information on my 3x grand-father Joel Burt-free person of color - born in Halifax Co. North Carolina in 1802. He married Nancy Richardson in Halifax Co. in 1825. His family migrated with the Hopkins and Isaac Richardson and his family to Knox Co. Kentucky, possibly Butler Co. Ohio and some went on to Ontario, Canada. I would appreciate any information about them. Particularly interested in any info about their racial heritage. Was told they might be indian or part indian.
