Thank you both for the information. I have not been able to check the Hardy county records yet. I've been comparing oral history and written accounts of family migration from Winchester (VA)-Pitts - Ohio. Jane Ailes located the person we believe to be the family patriarch, William Tocus (spelled TOPAS on census, in Hampshire Co.
But, when I review Hallie Q. Brown's account in Homespun Heroines, the family should have been in Pennsylvania. Also the ages of children are waaaay off.
