I believe I have finally found the family of my fourth great grandfather, Will Barnhill. He was a child slave, owned by John Evans of Drumore,Lancaster co. Pennsylvania. His mother was known as Silvey, and his brother was Ned.
According to "Slaves in Lancaster County Pennsylvania in 1780," both Ned and Will are listed as a "meal child."
Can anyone please tell me what that means?
