I have been researching my Thomas family for about 15 years. I recently did MTDNA testing for my maternal female line and found out that this line was European. The only information that I have on the progenitor is that her name was Louisa and that she was born around 1808 in Virginia. She married Josiah THOMAS born around 1805. The couple migrated to PA sometime between 1840 and 1850. I suspected she may have been born in Fauquier, Loudoun or Prince William counties. I know they were free people of color. Any help in determing the surname of Louia or who her parentsmight have been would be very greatly appreciated.
