I've heard of the Lumbee Indians of North Carolina. Pretty much all the Chavis people were a mixture of african, europeon, and native american ancestry. I kinda doubt that the Lumbee people are 100 percent natives..but, yea, its seems that a lot of the CHAVIS people originated in North Carolina and then spread all over the place. Some eventually made it to Louisiana. One branch made there way to Opelousas and married french-speaking free people of color. They married my LaChapelle and Gradenigo/Gradney relatives.
