Hello, I am currently researching my husbands family the Fields. I have started with his grandfather Berry Fields born 1916, that has taken me to his great grandfather also Berry Fields born about 1892 in Connecticut, that Berry is also the son of another Berry Fields born about 1868 in Charles City, Va. I see that Berry is the son of William H. Fields born about 1829 also from Charles City. Interestingly enough in my research, I have come across Berry Fields on the 1840 census as a Free African American,in Charles City. I believe that he is the Littleberry Fields mentioned in your book. Do you think that there is a possible connection between Littleberry Fields and the three generations of Berry's that I have found? I have been unable to locate Berry on the 1850 or 1860 census. The 1840 census has him as head of household with male and female children but no names are listed. As far as my husband knows his Fields migrated to New London, Connecticut after leaving Va.
Any relevant information that any one can provide would be greatly appreciated.
