They probably have some value. You should consider contacting the Virginia State University Archives to advise them of your discovery and see if they're interested.

You might want to locate a local appraiser of historical manuscripts to get an estimate of their potential value.

Or if you can't find someone locally, you might want to contact Philip J. Merrill, a professional appraiser of African American memorabilia. He's also an author of a book on collecting African American memorabilia.

I have never had anything appraised by him and don't know him personally, but do know that he was on Antiques Roadshow, and is currently listed as an appraiser by them.
