I've just come across this wonderful forum thank you for your information. I'm a "Longtown Clemens", with relations including the Bass', Carpenter's, Patterson's, and Alexander's. However, in all my searching, I've found very little information on the Alexander's in Longtown and no Alexander family members posting on any of the blogs and forums I've visited. My ggrandmother was Mae Alexander, who married Winsor "Wynn" Clemens probably around the late 1890's to early 1900's. I think she had 4 brothers (one named Ray) and 2 sisters. I have a picture of the family but don't even know her mother,father(Alexander surname), or siblings names (other than Ray). I would appreciate any information you may have on the Alexanders (i.e. where they originated from) and any specific information you may have on my ggrandmother's family. Also, in response to "Akhasa's" posting in June,I had a cousin Lou Stuart whose family was related with this settlement. The Stewart's (like others) used different spellings for the same family name.
