Re: Burden/Burdin
In Response To: Burden/Burdin ()
====================================================================I I am looking for the biography of Lewis Burden, Sr. that was published in Tucker, History of Randolph County, Indiana.
Lewis BURDEN, Sr. Was born in South Carolina, a freeman, in 1782. He came to Tennessee, and afterward to Wayne County, Ind., and again to Darke County, Ohio, Greenville settlement---the latter movement in 1838. He had thirteen children, eleven of whom became grown and were married and nine are now living. Their names were William, James, Priscilla, Lucy, Silas, Lewis, Daniel, Thomas, Caroline, John, Joel, Sidna, Biddy. He died in 1848. His wife, Polly, died in 1876. She is said to have been several years older than her husband, and to have been upward of a hundred years old when she died in 1876. If so, she must have been born before the Declaration of Independence was made, and she had lived through the entire period of our independent national existence. History of Randolph County (Indiana)
