the age does make since in a way. But there are inconsitencies. You are right about that. I found Martin Donato on a 1792 Opelousas census of free mulattoes and negroes. He is living near George Bolard. I believe thats the earliest he shows up in the census. But they were there before because of the 1779 marriage of Marie Jeanne. The census lists Martin's age, but its not clear. I have to proberly look at it on microfilm instead of through the internet. And Donato was there in the 1770s. I'm confused too. Where are the Donato children??? Her marriage to George shows that her relationship with Donato was proberly over by then. I guess getting a reliable age or baptism records for the Donatos would help. I believe the Donato children were born in New Orleans though.
