Rodney, regarding the statement that Marie Jeanne was the 27 year old "mulatto female" living with Bello per the 1771 census, where does the claim that the slave was a woman come from. As I review Deville's translations, mulatto and mulatress are gender terms used consistently throughout that census. Bello has a mulatto not a mulatress. Of course, if that was Marie Jeanne, the question would be where are her children. I still cannot find these people definitively prior to 1779. Any ideas??
