Thanks, you've touched on another "gold mine", old local newspapers.

This is really like mining for gold, copies of these papers, usually on microfilm, created only by date, usually in chronological order require time and patience. An idea of who may be in the area at any given time is a requirement, otherwise you're just reading old newspapers and may not be aware when you find a "nugget".

We (AA's), made the newpapers even then, and like today it was more often because of a negative event.

So check your local library, history/genealogy society for microfilm of old newspapers.

note: you may even find actual copies of newspapers in a local historical archive. Our historical society (Clark County, OH) have the "actual" local newspapers back to 1827.
