Below is information I came across after receiving the probate file of Jesse Mayfield from McMinn County, Tenn. I am assuming Mr. Taylor was a free man hence the posting to this page.

Taylor Samuel a man of colour D'cd settlement with Executors April 15th 1842 Henry Bradford one of the Executors of the Estate of Samuel Taylor D'cd, a coloured man came to the office of the county court clerk and made settlement as the law directs ( to wit) in Will Book D page 4 said Executors stand charges with the following amount $465.32
Interest on the same 15 months 34.94
(Vouchers) $500.26
Said Executor produced the following vouchers (to wit)
one receipt from Amy widow of Samuel Taylor D'cd $25.00
Interest on the same 3xx
one receipt from John White for goods 1st December 1841 6.93 3/4
interest on the same .25
Allowance to Executors 15.00
Clerks fee for settlement & requesting same 2.50 50.06 1/4
Charageable amount to date $450.19 3/4
