Hey, I was wondering whether or not anyone knows anything about George Bolard, a free man of color who records said was born in Boston who married my ancestor, Marie Jeanne Taillefer, native of New Orleans in 1779 at Opelousas? He was in Louisiana as early as the 177Os. What I want to know is how did a free man of color born in Boston during the Colonial period wound up in French Louisiana when the laws that restricted the migrations of free people of color were tight in the american north???
