Re: WEAVER FAMILY-- East Indian ancestry

Hello to those inquiring about the Weaver family.

My great grandmother was Martha Weaver Pettiford her father was Henry Weaver and her mother was Sarah Burden. Henry and his family left Orange County, North Carolina when he was in his early teens around 1840 and headed west. Henry is the son of John and Loucie Huddleston Weaver. That is as far back as I can go on the Weaver side. I do know that Henry had several sisters and brothers, they all traveled to Indiana together. They settled in various parts of the midwest. My great-grandmother's father was the founder of the Weaver settlement in Indiana . This settlement is located about 60 miles outside of Indianapolis. We have a reunion with the Pettiford side of the family every year. Our next 87th reunion will be held on August 20 in the settlement. My cousin Betty Ford of Stockton, Ca. has done most of the research on the Weavers and I have done most of my research on the Pettifords. One thing you should remember is that the Weavers and the Pettifords married into each other families several times over. My great grandmother married her Joseph Pettiford and Joseph was the nephew of Edith Weaver Pettiford who was married to Joseph's uncle Beverly Daniel Pettiford. Is that confusing enough?:)

I am very grateful to Paul for giving this additonal information on the Weavers that I did not have. If you are interested in further information you can contact me at ncj218@aol.com
