Sandy Stewart/Stuart claimed he was born circa 1804 in Tennessee. His mother was Amy Stewart, a Virginia native, who was free in the Arkansas Territory by 1828. Sandy was head of his household in Arkansas in 1840, and by 1850 he was living in Morehouse Parish, La. By 1860 Sandy and his children, Robert (Charles Robert), Syntha (Cynthia Cassandra), Elizabeth and Amy were living in what was then Otoe in the Kansas Territory.
I lose Sandy after 1860 and assume he was dead. I do find his son Charles and wife Elizabeth in Shawnee, Co. Also there was his daughter Elizabeth, and her husband Charles H. Thomas. The Thomas and Stewart famililies remained in the area until the 1900's.
Would like to make contact with anyone researching these folks and or familiar with Otoe and Shawnee, Kansas areas.
