July 31, 1788. Opelousas. Francois Lemelle, Officer at the Post, appears before Nicolas Forstall to agree to grant freedom to his mulatto slave, Eleonore (who had been given to him by his mother), and to her two children, Victoire and Alexandre, at the moment of his death. Luc Hollier and Francois Brunet also sign the document.
