The guide is actually a black binder that was prepared by the archives staff. The guide is part of a collection of special subject binders that are shelved in the microfilm reading area. Any one of the staff can assist you with locating this guide. To offer you a better explanation, the guide identifies significant records housed at the library or archives that relate to African Americans. Some of the records are manuscripts and can only be viewed at the archives. Other records have been microfilmed and can be easily viewed in the microfilm reading area. Finally other records have been transcribed, abstracted and published, and are available in the library. Free Negro records are typically arranged by the county or city within the state. And yes the two titles I mentioned are books. Both I believe are currently available in paperback.
