Re: Research Suggestions
In Response To: Research Suggestions ()

Hollis,

Thank you for your suggestions. I have done some legwork with Dennis Evans Sr. and found that he initially purchased land in 1850, the first year he actually showed up on the census. Manerva Evans, who was born around 1853 was my great, great, great grandmother.
I have ordered some vital recors by microfim from the Library of Virginia, but I did not know that they were available at my local Mormon Family History Center. I will definitely look into renting them. That might work out a lot better.
One thing I did not find in the 1850 census was any children of Dennis Sr. and Manerva Evans. I would think that Dennis Jr and his wife might live on the family land. I also thought that maybe some of the children were at some point bound out as apprentices. If available, would that information (apprentice records) show up at the Library of Virginia or at the county courthouse?

Ameena
