I would like to look at the free negro lists for Prince Edward County VA. I know that they exist because they were cited in a book published recently. I do not think the Library of Virginia has them for my county (Prince Edward) but I would think the county court has them. I called the county court recently and spoke to someone who said she had never heard of them.

I thought free negro lists were located at county courthouses. If not there, where else could they be?

I would appreciate any suggestions on where I can find these resources.
