There were CHAVISes in the Greenville Settlement. There also were STEWART *descendants* in the Settlement but surprisingly not anyone with the surname STEWART. CHAVIS and STEWART are surnames/families that can be found in just about all similar settlements in Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan. Most CHAVIS and STEWART familes came to the area from Virginia and North Carolina.
