Are there Stewarts and Chavis' from Longtown? Do you know where they were coming from? Thanx

Hello Akhasa,

For Longtown, what time period are you looking for. Longtown had its origins in the 1820's-1830's, I believe.

Also, I'm not sure of these specific surnames, but both are found (in significant numbers) within an area of 50 or so miles of Longtown in all directions.

The Stewart's and Chavis (various spellings) found in Ohio usually originate from VA & NC.

Hopefully Doug Harger will have some more meaningful information to add in response to your question.
