Hi all. Just wanted to let you know that I just started a new email list at rootsweb for the PETTIFORD surname. I've been doing research on this surname in NC for about 5 years now and noticed Rootsweb had a list for Pettifer and Pettiver, but not Pettiford as the FPOC in NC spelled it. Although the page isn't up on Rootweb, you can subscribe by sending an email to PETTIFORD-L-Request@rootsweb.com and put the word "subscribe" in the subject line and/or the body (and nothing else).

I tried to start a MAYO-AFAM list for the discussion of FPOC with the Mayo surname in NC, but they didn't think it was necessary b/c it wasn't that big of a list, so that was a no go, but feel to contact me about that surname in NC as well. I don't know much about the Mayo's in VA, Paul Heinegg's site (http://www.freeafricanamericans.com) would be your best source for the VA Mayo's.
