I've done searches for First/Last name as NEGRO and FREE and NEG***
in the early census records.

Today I happened to see a person at Ancestry listed with the first name UNKNOWN. Then I tried last name UNKNOWN.

I tried it by STATES and found out that some of those names(instead of being unable to be read clearly) were really names of People of Color that were FREE.
