Cinter Watkins, Sampson Co, NC

Hello Researchers,

My main purpose is to find my G-grandfather parents. His father was probably White since he was stated as Mulatto. I have nothing on his mother at all. Because there were no birth and death certificates before he died. His death was told to me as being between Jan.1900 and April 1910.

I found Cinter Watkins in HeritageQuest Census 1870. She was b. abt 1815, Westbrook Township, Sampson County, NC living in the Household of Lloyd West and his wife. Cinter was stated as age 55 and a domestic. Does anyone know anything about this lady. I do know that Lloyd West owned 4 or 5 slaves and I was wondering, if she was one of them. All persons were black except one child and just one was Mulatto. This child could have most likely been my G-grandfather, Silas West because he was Mulatto in the 1870 Census.

I am trying to find out if its possible that she was the female who was one of his slaves in the 1850 and 1860 Slave Schedules and if she was Silas West's mother. In 1850 and 1860, Lloyd West lived in same block of dwellings as Silas and Winnie West. Silas b. abt. 1832 and Winnie Barefoot b. abt 1845. Could someone enlighten me on this family. Thanks very much.

Alice
