Baltimore co. MD appl. certificates of freedom
This information is extracted from the book "Slavery, Slaveholding, and the Free Black Population of Antebellum Baltimore". These are records of applications of certificates of freedom for former slaves from 1840-1864. There are a LOT of names. I can probably do individual lookups, but I'm just going to list a couple of the common surnames, such as BAKER, for the time being.
