I checked the 1790 census, and I cound not find a Nathan Pendleton in Norwich, New York.

However, in 1800, there is one in New York, New York and he appears to be a white man with five free blacks and 14 slaves in his household.

Also in 1810, there is a white Nathan Pendleton in Norwich, New York with one slave and one free black. I dont know if this is the one you are looking for.
