Re: Mississippi in 1859
In Response To: Re: Mississippi in 1859 ()

Hi Will,

Thank you for asking the question because it provided me with an opportunity to learn something new. I had not known that both Mississippi and South Carolina increasingly sought ways, throughout the decade of the 1850s, to rid themselves of FPOC.

By the way, I forgot to direct you to the location of the footnote (#84) which refers to this topic on page 147 of the dissertation. http://www.lib.utexas.edu/etd/d/2005/bucknert46435/bucknert46435.pdf

Your Jordan Chavis sounds like a very interesting person to have as an ancestor. :) I did a google search to find out more about him, but had difficulty pinpointing your Jordan among the numerous references I found. Would you please send me a link? Thanks.

Regards,
Sandra
