Thanks for the answer and the excellent reference. It had not crossed my mind until I ran across an article about the state of MS trying to eject Jordan Chavis, my gggg grandfather in 1859[He was allowed to stay since he served in the military in the War of 1812]and then I noticed that three(3) of his sons left the state in 1859. This seemed odd. Jordan went on to live in MS and eventually died there in 1873.
