Hi,
My great-grandfather, William Warren was also from Norwalk, and also listed as an oysterman in one of the early 1800 census reports. I am trying to find which year it was, but I recall the name Metrash being listed on his street. I was doing a search on hime today and came across your interesting posting. I would love to hear more information about this. By any chance were your descendants part Pequot? I have some interesting history but have hit a block in my research. I even have a very early movie film of a couple of my ancestors in what seems to be the Norwalk coast in the early 1900's. There are fishing boats in the backround.
I am asking about your ancestors because I have found in my research that in the old days people who lived on the same street often were linked in some way. Sometimes through family or marriage. Since they both were Oystermen in the early 1800's, you never know.
Thanks, Eric Stevens
