Mecklenburg County, Virginia & Halifax County, NC are very close in proximity, only across the river. As I researched my family from Mecklenburg Co. I found some of my relatives had migrated to Halifax Co. The X-slaveowners (Alexander families)had extended families living in Halifax, Warren,and Granville Counties. It is my assumption thus far that my family worked for the extended Alexander families either on their farms or some other business.

Your Evans family must have lived in the same area as the Alexander's of Meckelnburg Co. that is, Boydton, Palmer Spring, Flat Creek, Buckhorn, South Hill areas.

I live in New Jersey. Coincidently, my next door neighbors "Evans Family" are from Mecklenburg Co. Va. as well.
