I am descended from Blackistone's (Blackiston's) who are from Leonardtown, St. Mary's County MD. My Great great grandfather was William Blackiston aka Billy (b 1833), wife was Caroline. His son was John. Several of John's 10 children with wife Jane McLain moved to Washington, DC in the late 1890's working as waiters, and drivers. Other names were Herbert, Peter, Robert, Francis, Bertie, Mary, and Mclane. My grandmother told me there was a connection between them and the white Blackistone's of the DC area.
