Re: Randolphs of Goochland County Va

Audrey, I spoke to my mother-in-law about Elvira Randolph James she told me she is in a nursing home she is 94 years of age. She was a school principal at Randolph High School for many years before retiring. I think I found your family members.... William Randolph was the son of William and Fredrica Randolph. I know he was born in January, 1867 and he lived in Richmond Va in 1870 this is because he is found on the Census.(its amazing how we can find our past generations) His brother was George C. and Mary S. Randolph. Now on the 1880 Census they moved into New York City where the name of Russell who is 5 years old shows up on the Census. William is now 14 years old and going to school and he has more family members sisters Annie, Frederica and a brother Roger. I hope this will ghive you some help. The vast majority of the Randolphs were Mulattoes that could move around the United States some could even pass for Caucasians. Many opportunities were open to this family and they seized the moment, some of them are related to the Jeffersons because they had plantations in this area of Goochland. I think I can be wrong but the Randolphs were Goochland County were related to Elizabeth (Betty) who had brothers, sisters and cousins.
