Re: Randolphs of Goochland County Va

Barb,
Actually, what happened is that William Maurice Randolph married Mary Francesco Durham in Philadelphia and then moved to Pittsburgh where they raised 5 children while he practiced law there.

Mary Durham lived at 1122 Locust Street in Philadelphia, as a child with her family. They owned that house and she grew up there. I think that they moved there from "indian town" in virginia. The story goes that they were part of the rail road and had been found helping people escape and were warned to 'get out of town while you can'. So the Stevens and the Durhams left Va. and went to Philadelphia.

Grandmother Randolph had siblings;
John Stevens 1861
Cora Billingsley 1863
and then Grandmother Mary Francesco 1869

Her mom, lived in that house until she died at 94 years old..Her name, Elizabeth Stevens (Stephens, married Samuel Durham and had
3 children
John Stevens-1861
Cora Billingsley-1863
Mary Francisco-1869

Mary Bivens 1811-1904 William Stevens 1800 1882
Married in 1830

6 children

George Stevens (Stephens)1831-1880(m. Susanna)

Mary(m.Wm. Thomas)

Andrew (m.Elizabeth Cole)

William-Died infancy

I hope this helps... wouldn't it be exciting... Audrey
