Re: FPOC and the Limits of Democracy

"Finally, it's interesting to note that some of the worst racial strife in American history occurred in Mississippi, Alabama, Lousiana and eastern Florida. These states, formerly part of colonial France and Spain were regions where laws were more flexible toward slaves and Free People of Color. Leave it to the Americans to come in and ruin the neighborhood."

The Transatlantic Slave Trade was the "dot com" of its age...which allowed all those Europeans (French, Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish, Danish and English) countries to amass great wealth on the back of Africans and began the industrial revolution on the raw materials that their labor produced. And the racism is just as deep.

Make no mistake the rotten stench which was slavery and racist applies to all of them and is not ameliorated because some sounded like Maurice Chevalier and Ricardo Montalban instead of John Wayne.
