Re: FPOC's Longtown, OH Settlement

Lewis Bass owned property in both Indiana and Longton pre 1850's and left the area in mid 1870's (along with several other families) and migrated to Kansas. Also interested if there were any surname Banks in this town -that may have been connected to the Bass family during early settlement period.
Stacey, I would be very interested in your information on Mordecai BASS as the father of Lewis A. BASS. Lewis A. BASS has been a "mystery person" as far as BASS in this settlement. There have been several individuals offered forth as his father and I have not been able to find anything of substance that would show who his parents or siblings are. County histories etc. seem to infer that all the BASS in this settlement come from Reuben BASS, but Lewis just doesn't seem to fit. There is a Mordecai BASS who had a sibling named Lewis (would be an uncle to this Lewis) and a bondsman Lewis PETTIFORD (married daughter of Reuben BASS) in his first marriage to Nancy ASKEW and a grandfather, Lewis ANDERSON. The Lewis in question had a son name Lewis Anderson BASS so everything seems to fit. As far as a BANKS BASS connection. There are several BANKS BASS connections in this settlement, but the BANKS (no one with that name) never lived in the Greenville Settlement as far as I know. Some of the BASS family moved to another "FPC" Settlement in the next county north, Mercer County, called Carthagena, and married into the BANKS family. BANKS is a prominent name in the Carthagena settlement. Several descendants later moved back to the Greenville Settlement (some BANKS descendants are living there today). Of course these families, including the ones you mentioned in your other post can be found in just about all the "FPC" settlements in Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan (by way of similar settlements in Virginia, the Carolinas, and Tennessee). Families tended to move from one settlement to another and back again etc. So the BASS, BANKS, HAMMONDS, CHAVIS, ROBERTS, REVELS et. al. are all interconnected. ++++++++++++++ 1. Lewis A.
