Joel House is listed in the 1840 Cabarrus County, N.C. census as a free person of color. This same one is found in the 1850 and 1860 census of Cabarrus county, where he is classified as a mulatto, a carpenter working in the home of a farmer named John Faggert/Faggart. Wonder if anyone ever heard of this Joel House. Joseph
