interesting census info(Theo LaChapelle)

Hi, I'm been trying to find out more about my g-g-g grandfather, Theophile LaChapelle, who is listed in the 1850 Louisiana Census in Opelousas as a 19 year old free mulatto laborer. What is so interesting about this census is the 60 year old white woman living with him. Her name is recorded as being Mrs. Pierre Bellome. Obviously, thats not her real name. But it gives me the name of who ever her widow is. Pierre Bellome. What I've been trying to figure is who is the white woman and why is she living with my g-g-g grandfather? I also skipped ahead to the 1880 US CENSUS for Theo LaChapelle. According to him, his parents were born in Missouri. That makes it even more interesting. Any information or advice would be valuable in assisting me in exploring this mystery I'm trying to solve.

Rodney
