Sandra, Sorry I took so long to get back to you. I haven,'t located my great-great grandfather Eldridge Chism on any 1860 census. The librarian in Jackson also looked it up for me and found nothing. He stated that my ggreat couldn't have been free there (something to do with the area and free persons not being alowed to live there. So I'm back where I started. Thanks any way.
