George & Lucinda SIMPSON, VA>OH 1850

I have frequently seen the SIMPSON surname relative to FPOC, and specifically relative to Virginia.

Last year, I determined that my 2nd great-grandfather, George SIMPSON, appears on the 1850 census in Portsmouth, OH (Scioto Co.). He and his family are enumerated thusly:

George SIMPSON 28 M M Barber VA
Lucinda SIMPSON 27 F M TN
William Green 7 M M OH

The Wm. Green SIMPSON with them was my maternal 2nd ggf, who eventually moved to Gallia and then Athens, OH, where he settled and raised his family. William died in Athens in 1878.

I have not been able to trace my 3rd ggf, George, to a specific county in Virginia. Neither have I been able to determine Lucinda's maiden name, or from which county in TN she was from. My hopes, in posting on this forum, is that eventally someone will make a connection to my SIMPSON branch.

Optimistically,

Nina
