Re: STEWARTs of Cass County Michigan

I guess communication is better this way anyhow. My STEWARTs also have connection with Ohio's Underground Railroad. They are mentioned in Wilbur Seiberts book with one picture. One ELIZABETH STEWART married a PETER COKER and they had sons JOHN, EISHA, JAMES, TOLLIVER, THOMAS, and MICHAEL. They were heavily involved with the Underground Railroad in Ohio. Elizabeth's brother, JAMES STEWART, had sons involved too, one named John J. who is pictured in Seibert's book.

As to the WHITEs, my Aunt FLORENCE STEWART, married ALFRED WHITE II, of Kalamazoo MI. His father, ALFRED WHITE, was born in KY circa 1835, and married a JANE CASEY. He also was in the USCT, 102ND OF MI, as was some of my STEWARTS. Alfred White's father was Dangerffield White. I have no information on him.

I have not been able to trace my COUSINS ancestors past 1860. Mary Jane COUSINS, my Great Grandmother, is in White Pigeon MI in 1860 census. Says she was born in IN circa 1835. Every census after that that I find her in says she was born in IN. Also found her in an IN Negro Registry. I found many COUSINS in IN during this time period but, can not connect any of them to MARY JANE, though many of them are buried in CHAIN LAKE CEMETARY in CASS COUNTY, MI.

Does not seem to be a connection Art, but I sure do appreciate your response. I'll be keeping up with this forum from now on and just in case you ever run across any info that you think would be relavent, please post.
