Hello,

This is about the 4th or 5th family photo I've seen from this era. In each of the photos the man who appears to be the family patriarch is holding a weapon (rifle/shotgun).

Does anyone know if there is some significance to this feature? I have my thoughts, but wanted to hear from others.
