On June 26, 1866 after his return from the Civil war, he and his friend Becky Ann Longman, formerly a slave of Captain James Longman appeared before the Magistrate at the Beaufort County courthouse and reportd they had been living and cohabiting together for ten years and wanted to register their marriage. This marriage can be found in the Records of Marriages, 1851 - 1868, Beaufort County NC. Ned had 2 sons, Jesse and Moses and 1 daugther, Rebecca. Jesse and Moses lived in Beaufort County and Rebecca lived in Rocky Mount NC.
