My son and I just visited the Clemens/Bass/Anderson cemeteries on Sunday, August 7, 2005. It was definitely worth trudging through all of the points of interest in the hot sun! We met a mother and daughter ... at the Bethel Long church at the Stingley road intersection who graciouly showed us the Institute, the ... homestead and tons of pictures. We truly enjoyed our day and look forward to hearing more about our history.... P.S. I was surprised to see GRANT in the CLEMENS cemetery. My husband's family is from Conway/Columbia SC area. Any connections?

Slight correction. It's the CLEMENS/BASS/*ALEXANDER* cemeteries. These were the first three families in the Greenville Settlement, Darke County, Ohio. As far as I know the GRANT family in the Settlement has no ties to South Carolina. The GRANT family, as far back as I have found, begin with Esther _____? GRANT? LOCKETT, born in Kentucky about 1810 (both parents born in Virginia). She is found in Paulding County, Ohio living with her son and his wife, William & Rose A. GRANT. William was also born in Kentucky (both parents born in Kentucky). William's son, Jacob Q. GRANT, is found in Paulding County, Ohio; in the Rumley Settlement in Shelby County, Ohio (another "FPC settlement") and then on both the Ohio and Indiana side of the Greenville Settlement, Darke County, Ohio.
