I have information on the Hargrave(s) families in Sussex County, Virginia. Alexander Hargrave married (probably informally)Tempy Betts, formerly a slave of Drewey Betts. We believe Alexander, aka Ellick and Jesse Hargrave were freed by their owners in Sussex County. Since Surry County is the parent of Sussex County, it may be that the Hargrave or Hargroves are related. Both Alexander & Tempy migrated to the State of Ohio in the early 1800's. One daughter of Tempy was my 3rd great grandmother, Jemimia who married Samuel Jones. We are actively seeking information for Samuel Jones, in addition to the Betts/Hargrave families.
