Thanks Selma---where was Nancy emancipated, recorded? The known Hargraves in my situation may well have had Virginia beginnings. The mother of my ancestor, Hannah, was born and reared in Bedford Co., Va. She married Hezekiah Hargrave in December of 1785 in Rutherford Co., North Carolina. One of those who served as witness to Hannah's indenture was a Robert Hargrave, alledged brother to Hezekiah and Willis Hargrave who also signed off on the document.
