There is no additional informaion on the microfilm or original records. James Dunn is listed in Peggy Dunn's household near Norfolk with Tom and Mark Dunn. Peggy was probably his mother and Tom and Mark were probably his brothers. They may have descended from the Dunn family of Fairfax County which is on the freeafricanamericans.com site. A Polly Dunn petitioned the South Carolina Legislature together with members of the Chavis and Jones families on 9 December 1859 saying that they were Indians and should not have to pay the free Negro capitation tax.
